The Bolo Club announces its first Deer Hunting SeasonAugust 17, 2007With the 2007 hunting season fast approaching, The Bolo Club is maintaining and expanding their nearly 25+ acres of food plots. These food plots have been designed by meeting with biologists and other QDM (Quality Deer Management) clubs in the area to help produce large rack, large body deer. The food plots consist of Corn, soybeans, and clovers. Fall planting is right around the corner and The Bolo Club will start this fall preparing over 30 acres for spring planting of native warm season grasses under a USDA plan for bobwhite habitat, and cover, for wildlife. Grasses of big and little bluestem, switch grass, sideoats grama, and korean lespedeza will be reintroduced to the area. Along with the planting, a new pond is being built near the lodge for future enjoyment of clients and another source of water for wildlife. This fall brings meetings with other QDM clubs in the area to discuss matters that affect the health and quality of the wildlife in our area. The Bolo Club has picked a select parcel of 800 acres for this hunting season and plans on opening up even more for next season. This will add greatly to the areas habitat management. Along with the other area clubs this will bring the total of 11,000+ acres which are under strict QDM practice mean quality hunting for the 2007 season. Because NO deer hunting has been allowed at the Bolo Club for the last two years this year is you best chance of harvesting that buck of your dreams! Their will be a limited number of membership for this fall and spring.
